How I learned I was Keesha
I learned I was Keesha on Tuesday, Ongora 3rd, of the year 500. I was 14 at the time. I guess my parents knew it all along, from the day they adopted me. I didn't even know I was adopted until that fateful Tuesday. Up until then I felt liike I had a life, a world, and then it was all shattered, just like that by two men who pounded on my door.
Bang. Bang. Bang. The sound of knocking on our front door. I didn't even think about it at the time, just kept on getting ready for school. I couldn't afford to be late today- it was photo day!

The story of Tanna, from farmer to assassin
I am an an assassin. Killing people is what I do. It’s just another job here in Sarahena. I wasn’t always this way though.
A long time ago I lived on a farm with my family. I hated it. It was boring, and we had so many chores to do. We were very poor, so most of our food was lumpy porridge, thin watery soup, hard stale crusty bread, and the few vegetables that we could harvest from our garden. One day when I was eight I decided to run away. I would go to the capital city of our realm, Sarahena. Our village wasn’t far from it. I snuck off late at night, but just as I was leaving my little brother Coblin caught me. I didn’t want him to tell my parents where I had gone, or they would come after me, so, even though Coblin was only five, I decided to bring him with me.
We walked all night and into the day and soon we got to Sarahena. I loved the city. It was so big, so beautiful, so full of people. I didn’t have any money so I became a pickpocket, and a good one too. Coblin always said that he didn’t like stealing, but in time he became a pickpocket too.
Every night we would buy, or steal some food and then creep off to our house. It was an old abandoned shack, complete with a leaky roof and broken windows. It wasn’t much, but it was better than nothing. When it rained we’d huddle in the corners and trying not to get dripped on and tell each other ghost stories. One day when I was out trying to steal some bread from the bakery I saw a wanted poster, and on it I saw a picture of my brother. I couldn’t read the words on the poster, but I could guess what it said. Coblin was never as good a pickpocket as I was, and I knew that he must have been seen. I knew that Sarahena was no longer the place for us, so that night we fled the city. We ran along the road back to the small farming village we once lived in, but when we got there a terrible surprise awaited us.
We found that the entire village had died of disease. The only person alive was a man in a white coat claiming to be a scientist from the University of Arcken-Zapor in Sarahena. He said he was studying the disease that killed them, Charrin cough. Coblin and I settled down in our parent’s house. I didn’t trust the man in the white coat (who was staying in a tent outside the village) and I told Coblin to stay away from him, but he didn’t listen and he died three days later, of Charrin cough.
I headed back to Sarahena. The village I had left had nothing for me but bad memories. Once I was back in Sarahena I decided that I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life as a pickpocket or thief so I became a servant at the royal palace. I loved it at first, but then I realized how much we servants were bossed around and how much luxury the royalty were given, and I began to hate them. You know the way they just flounce around in their fancy clothes ordering everyone around. There was a princess in the about my age in the palace. Her name was Arenna. I hated her just like I hated all royalty, and every time I saw her I muttered a curse under my breath. Then one day my whole life changed.
I was walking through the city square when somebody grabbed me and pulled me into a dark, dirty alleyway. It was a man in a black cloak. He held a knife.

The Story of Grub
Grub stared through the window. Her eyes filled with tears. Through the window she could see a woman cuddling a child in her lap. Grub had been cuddled like that once too, only a few months ago, by her mother; but Grub’s mother was dead. She had died a few months earlier of Joytom and Grub’s father had left for Boldoriesh three years ago when Grub was three and never returned. Only Grub had not been called Grub then. She had been called Rosa; but she was Rosa no longer. When she called herself Rosa it made her think her think of things. Bad things. Things she would rather not remember. Her father before he left. Her mother lying in bed, sick. So she was Grub now; but Grub was having problems. Grub’s entire house with everything in it had been sold to some rich people in black suits who had just wanted to sell it again, and the all of the money was used to pay for her mother’s funeral, so Grub had been living on the streets all summer, but it was autumn now and winter was on it’s way. The nights had been getting colder and colder, and Grub knew that she could not survive the winter sleeping in deserted alleys and old abandoned buildings. She didn’t even have a blanket.
